There's a lot of news coverage about COVID-19 and it can be overwhelming for parents and frightening to kids. The American Academy of Pediatrics encourages parents and others who work closely with children to filter information and talk about it in a way that their child can understand. You can also read more information on COVID-19 vaccination for children and teens and sign up for a Virtual Doc Talk to get your questions answered about the COVID-19 vaccine and children.

Conversations with Family

We know that families are having important conversations about the way the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting all our lives. Children – and parents – may feel overwhelmed at times, and parents are sometimes unsure of the best way to teach their kids of different ages about the virus. Families also need to know that all the emotions they feel are valid as we go through this together, and one of the best things we can do is listen to each other and talk about what we are thinking and feeling. In conjunction with Wiggle Out Loud and the OU College of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, we welcome you to share these videos with your child.
